Medical Scheme

What is a Group Medical Scheme, and how will it benefit me?

Private Medical Insurance (PMI) is designed to reduce waiting times for diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions by reducing your reliance on the National Health Service (NHS).

PMI members will receive treatments in Private hospitals offering hotel-style accommodation, usually in single rooms, with higher nurse / patient ratios and reduced incidences of so-called superbugs, such as MRSA.

CM has negotiated group rates with BUPA. The premium will be charged to CM Reserves. You may continue your benefit even if you leave Charles Marcus employment.

How do I become a member of the scheme?

All members will be enrolled on a Medical History Disregarded underwriting basis. You will not need to complete an application form, or to declare any medical history on joining the scheme.

Any new conditions that you might suffer will be eligible for cover from the day you join the scheme, provided these conditions are eligible for cover under the terms and conditions of this policy.

If you do have PMI cover in place already, you will receive a transfer of your existing underwriting terms to ensure that you are not disadvantaged by joining the Charles Marcus scheme.

On completion of your membership, your membership documents, including full details of how to pre-authorise a claim, will be forwarded to you (please note that it could take up to 4 weeks before you receive the pack).

How much will membership cost?

The cost of membership is dependent upon your age, and whether you wish to include dependants on your policy. Available to you are Single, Couple, Single-Parent Family or Family policies. The policy runs from 01 August to 31 July. If you join the scheme part-way through the year the annual cost will be apportioned.

The BUPA Select Membership Guide gives information about what is covered by the policy.

Dental Plan

Looking after your health should not stop with medical cover. Oral hygiene is equally as important to your general health and wellbeing.

We can offer dental cover for you and your family through BUPA. The policy runs from 01 October to 30 September. If you join the scheme part-way through the year, the annual cost will be apportioned.
